"Ooh, I can do that!" Phoenix got excited, dug into his backbag and pulled out his wand. 13 inch long, pretty one made of English oak and finished with some red mahongany skin. The boy laid it on the grass for a moment so he could dig out several niffler treats from his jeans pocket. Ones that were Gibson's absolute favourites, ones he believed the niffler might wish to live on. Shortening Gibson's leash so it could not get to the treats whilst they were on the ground, he then picked up his wand.
"This levitation charm is one of those I've practised the most, but I have only been practising spells for a couple of months now so I'll try with very light objects," he explained as he prepared to focus on his intent, control his emotions and channeling his powers. Excited Gibson was stretching its front paws towards the treats and pulling on the harness.
"Wingardium leviosa," he said, remembering to put emphasis on the correct letters whilst flicking the wand slightly. The small pile of little round treats lifted from the ground, slightly separating from each other. This version of the charm was the best because one could also guide the levitating object through the air unlike with a lesser version that would only have them float in mid-air or hover briefly. Phoenix guided them higher and loosened Gibson's leash. The boy made the treats whirl around provoking the niffler to jump up at them, making excited sounds, something between purring and squueling. It couldn't quite reach them as its body wasn't designed to jump very high.
"Try again, mate!" Phoenix encouraged, "You need to exercise a bit, work for these." He then brought them a little bit lower and let the furball reach one. Gibson, all fluffed up from excitement, happily munched on his catch.
