A burst of excitement went through Phoenix when it became certain that this boy did not know his true nature. Phoenix had always wanted to reveal. magic's existance to a muggle or few but had too much respect for the law to actually do so. He somewhat understood the danger, too, having learned a little bit about the witch trials of the past centuries in school. the primary school history books did not go deep into the matter but he was meaning to borrow some books from the library, one of these days. Though it wouldn't be quite the same to reveal magic to a muggle-born whose muggle parents would find out about it later anyway, this was still better than nothing. Phoenix looked at the boy for a moment, considering what to do. He looked young enough to possibly believe everything and anything he was told but Phoenix wanted to show him.
"I think most people like us have an owl or few. You should get one, too if you have large enough rear yard to build a very large gage. But then again if your dad doesn't have time to take care of any pet he certainly wouldn't of an owl..." Phoenix pondered first. Animal wellfare was also close to his heart, as close as the animals themselves. His father was way too busy for full time care of pets too as was his mother, but they had more family to help them if needed, whilst all their pets were fine for the eight or so hours everyone was out at work or school.
"So perhaps it's not a good choice for you yet. Cats are low maintanance so I would say you should be fine with one. But really, you don't even know how many exciting options you have," he continued, now smiling wide and Gibson having finished the treat started climbing down on him, heading towards his jeans side pocket.
"See, some animals have magicabilities," Phoenix looked at the boy with an excited twinkle in his eyes, grabbed Gibson and sat down on the lawn where it would be easier to hold the niffler as it would not like what he was about to do.
"A niffler is one of the lesser examples but he has one or two. See this little pouch he has on his tummy? What do you think is the biggest thing that could fit in there?" he said, stretching it a little bit. It was definitely evidence that even though it didn't actually have a bill but a snout looking like one, the niffler was related to some australian animals as well as to a mole. Gibson struggled a little as he sensed his guardian was about to raid his treasures. But Phoenix held on tight, both to the leash and the niffler. Though the pouch was completely flat making it look empty, Phoenix knew that at any given time there were a large number of all kinds of shiny items to be found.
