WHAT'S THE PURPOSE OF THIS SITE?

It's better to hate something for what it is, than to love it for what it's not. Yet I've never asked anyone to hate the thing - and I don't hate anyone personally - just wish they'd stop pairing them 'cause they so can't be paired. This site is trying to be some kind of a voice of reason amongst all the coountless Lestat & Jesse fan videos where the two die for each others and all other kinds of stuff so not baseable on the film's storyline and absent chemistry. So, regardless of the many book adaptation related rants, still the main purpose is to make very clear in the name of realisticness, what this film pairing really is all about, which SO is NOT love.

Why can't I just let people pair Lestat and Jesse if it makes them happy? Because they do it out of blindness and can you really say living in a lie is a good thing anyway?

Opinions and views are based on facts in this case as we all see the very same events, and hear the very same dialogs by the very same characters. So one opinion is more valid than the other. Because the fact of life itself is that what this film portrayes is not realistically and commonly seen as love at all and in real life such a storyline would not lead to what the film's end scene suggests. Even the producer of the film says it's "much less likely that Lestat would fall for Jesse than she with him." Which in this case is not that far from plain unlikely. As then he throws has to throw in "fate or circumstances" & "in a way he would never have predicted" - so admits there's no chemistry nor realistic storyline. Thus the film couldn't end like that in any emotional logic. The circumstances, it's really Marius and him those particylar ones would bring together (as father-son.) And fate is always a card used when logic fails. They fucked up but can't admit it. But at least they don't try to claim he'd actually love her.

Of course anyone is still free to like the pairing, it's just frustrating that the relationship is worshipped as something it is not.

And I kid you not when I tell you this:
X on Fanpop's QOTD Spot's Pop Quiz section someone had posted one that asked "Who said 'You're more precious'?" - and claiming the corret answer to be 'Lestat'. That pop quiz had some 90% answers incorrect. Why? Because Lestat never said such a thing and people were taking wild guesses who else it could've been, reckoning they've just forgotten such a line but being sure it wasn't Lestat. Lestat does talk to Jesse about something being precious, yes. But what he actually says is "ALL THAT is more precious... than anything I've ever known." And 'all that' was refering to all that he had just said about being human and a mortal. So he hadn't even been talking about Jesse as a person or anything. That quiz question has been removed by the administaors of the site b/c the question wasn't fact based.
X Two times by now, I have read a shipper claiming Jesse and Lestat kiss in the film, while in fact they don't. They don't even get close to kissing. One of those fans however admitted "Oops! It was just my wishful thinking!" Those kissing hallusinations by wishful thinking have been stated on YouTube. In "Lestat & Jesse - Kiss The Girl" fanvideo and in ItalianGypsyLady's QOTD movie upload part 5.

"This song really fits them!", "This song screams Lestat & Jesse!" NO, it does NOT. Not unless it's a song of hate or of brainless obsessive stalking.

This site is not hating the entire film nor trying to make the enitre film look bad. I actually love this film in general and think some changes they made, relatively good ones. But still, as an adaptation this is criminally disrespective. It's the story they made up that I hate. And I can't and I'm not supposed to, seperate it completely from the books, because that's what it's meant to be; an adaptation of the books. If you're interested in my opinion on this movie all in all - I put into nutshell in the Lestat & Jesse sections "In short" part that is at the end of the page.

Why I just can't let it go like most of people might be able to and I don't even want to let go.

X The Lestat&Jesse pairing is complete, utter nonsense and thus extremely infuriating. But fun to make fun of.
X The Lestat&Marius father-son relationship is a very vital part of The Vampire Chronicles and very underappreciated. I'm not gonna let some nonsense bullshit pairing make it even worse without trying to do something about it.
X Not only is the Lestat&Marius father-son thing a very vital part of the Chronicles but the books don't have any twilightness in the relationships which makes Lestat&Jesse thing wrong even basically.
X I deeply care about quality storylines and movies all in all, and this film is not that because of the Lestat&Jesse.
X And I'm a passionate fan personality.
